Week 11- XYO Intro

Have you ever wondered how GPS works?

Well... "the Global Positioning System is a network of about 30 satellites orbiting the Earth at an altitude of 20,000 km. The system was originally developed by the US government for military navigation, but now anyone with a GPS device can receive the radio signals that the satellites broadcast. Wherever you are on the planet, at least four GPS satellites are 'visible' at any time. Each one transmits information about its position and the current time at regular intervals. These signals, traveling at the speed of light, are intercepted by your GPS receiver, which calculates how far away each satellite is based on how long it took for the messages to arrive.  Once it has information on how far away at least three satellites are, your GPS receiver can pinpoint your location using a process called trilateration." Thanks Physics

As you all know, time is our most precious asset, so waiting for the technologies that we have become so accustomed to speed is always the worst!  The cool thing is, the more satellites there are, the quicker and more accurate your GPS unit can determine your location.

The XY persistent company has created the XYO network, a peer to peer location data network that allows data information to be sent and verified without requiring a trusted third party relationship.

The parent company, XY has been around since 2012 and is headquartered in San Diego, California. The company is leading in the worlds findables technology with over 1 million Bluetooth and GPS tracking devices in the world today.  And now, with the implementation of their cryptocurrency, you can be rewarded for providing value to the network by verifying your location for others through the decentralized network system. Together they have already made great strides towards success with tons of new partnerships this year including Microsoft and Tesla’s SpaceX.

As you may recall, I was one of the earliest Geomineres on the network with the content kickoff a few weeks back with CryptoLookout's music video for Drumma Boy's- XYO.

This was just a sneak peek for the XYO geo-mining kit unboxing video.

Fun fact, this was my first time actually in front of the camera so the presentation skills are definitely still a work in progress.

Now, of course we had to really test these things out and make sure we would actually be rewarded! The choice was easy... a road trip to Colorado!

Turns out they are working great as personally, I made over 10,000 XYO tokens on the long drive while as a group we totaled about 30,000 tokens, which currently is about $75.

The project is still in the development stage, but seems to have new updates and partnerships every week! Definitely keep this one on the #lookout as data location will be very important to the connectivity of the real world with the digital age!
